THE BORDER OF THE HONG KONG SAR AFTER 1997

The agreement provides for Hong Kong to become a Special
Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China on 1 July
1997. Paragraph 1 of the Joint Declaration refers to the Hong Kong
Area which will become the SAR as including Hong Kong Island,
Kowloon and the New Territories. Thus no changes are made to the
boundaries of Hong Kong.
Section XIV of Annex I to the Joint
Declaration provides that entry into the Hong Kong Special
Administrative Region from other parts of China shall continue to be
resulted after 1 July 1997 in accordance with present practice.
