Would you please refer to my minute of 19 March.

2. I have now been shown a copy of UKMIS Geneva's communication to the Director of Legal Affairs, GATT, about the independence of St Christopher and Nevis dated 20 September 1983. Taking account of that precedent I have prepared the attached three drafts

UK Declaration,

Hong Kong Declaration, and PRC Declaration.

As you know, I have only included (ii) in deference to the views of the GATT Secretariat. However I cannot help feeling that, as well as being unnecessary, the Chinese may object to this as an attempt to create a "3-legged stool". If it does cause difficulty I think that we should drop it.
