CU lecturer Andrew Wong: the drafting committee is bloated. It should consist of no more that 20 members.

* Left-wing sources: The first round of meetings of the Basic Law drafting committee will be held in Peking from July 1 to 5. The committee will set up a secretariat at the State Council's HK and Macau Affairs Office and

may also establish a liaison office in HK should such a need

arise.

HK Daily News source: A HK member on the Basic law drafting committee is said to be involved in the recent "collapse" of a local bank. Should the Police arrest him, China not only will not interfere but will drop his name from the list.
