50 people, including 18 from HK. There will be 80 to 100 members on the consultative committee, all of whom HK residents.
The two committees will be equal in status and will both be responsible to the NPC.
UC member Frederick Fung: China should invite a large group of
representatives from various sectors to form
the Basic Law consulta- tive committee.
Professor Samuel Finer (visiting British scholar): HK people should raise their voice that the power of final adjudication should rest with HK courts so that their representatives on the Basic Law drafting committee can pursue the
matter.
