Sing Pao: The sharing of BLCC seats should be changed if it is considered unreasonable. But people can still put forward their opinions even if they are not on the consultative

committee.

The Express: The

influential role of the NCNA in the organisation of the BLCC is a demonstration of China's unwavering policy towards

HK.

BLCC and the drafting committee are not

affiliated to each other and there are no leader-subordinate relationship between them. A clause in the original draft saying that BLDC members can attend BLCC meetings has been deleted.

(report) A survey conducted by the Federation of Trade Unions shows that 50 per cent of some 12 000 respondents feel that the power to interpret the Basic Law should rest with an organisation jointly set up by the Chinese Government and the HK SAR authorities.

Council of Indian Association chairman Hari Harilela (interview with Wen Wei Po): He is glad that expatriates will be represented on the BLCC. He hopes the Basic Law will stipulate that one or two seats in the SAR legislature will be reserved for

expatriates.
