Draft constitution for the Basic Law

consultative committee published by the NCNA: The committee will have 120 to 200 members. The term of office will last until the Basic Law is completed. Full meetings of the committee will be held twice a year. All members will join the committee in a personal capacity through three channels. They may be invited by the preparatory committee

Drafting committee member Maria Tam: People who donate money to the consultative committee

will not have any control over the body. No matter how much a person donates, he will not have any influence in the

group.

(report) Source: China has earlier invited civil servants to joint the drafting committee but the Government turned down the invitation.

HK Affairs Society vice-president Man Sai-cheong: The method of selecting consultative committee members as spelt out in the draft constitution is still

vague.
