HK Council of Social Service director Hui Yin-fat: NCNA HK director Xu Jiatun has agreed that the Basic Law

consultative committee should have represen- tatives from the social

welfare field.

* Basic Law drafting committee member Tam Yiu-chung: Basic Law consultative committee members can be selected through nominations by functional groups or through democratic consultations.

Acting Governor Sir David Akers-Jones said he imagined that the input into the Basic Law consultative committee will come from a great many sources and if Legco members wish to discuss the Basic Law, he is sure that they will do so. He will not expect Legco members to discuss the Basic Law in open

meetings of Legco.
