Basic Law drafting committee member Maria Tam: People invited to

sit on the Basic Law consultative committee should have a deep appreciation of HK's free enterprise economy. Those sectors of the community not represented on the drafting committee will be included on the consultative committee.

discussed in the Regional Council.

consultative committee needs not register but will still be a legal organisation. The Governor made the verbal promise at a phone call with HK members of the Basic Law drafting

committee who made the call when the drafting

committee held its first meeting in Peking.
