The job of the Basic Law Consultative Committee is to collect and

reflect to the Basic Law Drafting Committee the views and suggestions raised

by the people of various quarters in Hong Kong on the Basic Law and to be

consulted by the drafting committee. The consultative committee could also

sort out the views it has gathered and conduct a synthetical analysis on them

for the reference of the members of the drafting committee. Since the drafting

committee is the working body of the Standing Committee of the National

People's Congress, the reflection of views to the drafting committee is

actually the reflection of views to the Standing Committee of the National

People's Congress.
