It has been agreed that the following statement will be issued in London and Beijing at 5:00 p.m. (Hong Kong time) on 21 May

"In accordance with the provisions of the Joint Declaration of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great

of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of the People's Republic of China on the question of Hong Kong, signed by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and Premier ZHAO Ziyang in Beijing on 19 December 1984, the British and Chinese Governments have decided that instruments of ratification of the Joint Declaration will be exchanged in Beijing on 27 May 1985."
