HONG KONG : HOUSE OF LORDS COMMITTEE STAGE

1. We have not yet seen any amendments to the Hong Kong Bill in the House of Lords. Lady Young has however asked for notes for

the committee stage to be sent to her in Belize in the week beginning 4 March.

2. I would therefore be grateful for your comments on the attached:

(a) Speaking notes on nationality for the "schedule stand part" debate.

(b) A slightly revised section of the Notes on Clauses on Nationality and

(c) A revised list of supplementaries on nationality.

In a number of places you will find blanks asking for Home Office Contributions. I would be grateful if you could coordinate Home

Office comments.

I would also be grateful for any suggestions of other points we should concur in the briefing for the committee stage.
