(Ke Zaishuo): There will be contradiction if the local political reforms are not compatible with the Basic Law. He did not think that Xu Jiatun's remarks at the November 21 press conference implied that either party had deviated from the Joint Declaration.

(reported) (PAS for Economic Services and BLCC member Wilfred Wong): Political reforms should be gradual. If the 1987 review resulted in a political model suitable for the local situation, it could be use as a useful reference for Basic Law drafting.
