Question No. 2
Reply by the Hon. J.N. Henderson, OBE, JP Secretary for Education & Manpower, to a question from the Hon. Yeung Po-Kwan, CPM
in LegCo on 13 November 1985
Question:
In view of the incident on 5 November 1985
at Construction Industry Training Authority
Kwai Chung Construction Industry Training
Centre where an apprentice was killed by a
falling iron bar, will Government inform
this Council whether there are places to
review and improve upon safety measures
governing similar training centres in order
to prevent further accidents?
Answer
Sir, this was a very tragic accident.
The
Construction Industry Training Centres have had a very good
record in industrial safety and there has been no serious
accident at these centres in the past. Indeed, this and
other training centres take care to include the teaching of
good safety practice as part of their curricula.
