These institutions together will produce an additional

1426 teachers of Putonghua within the next 5 years

This output

together with the 619 teachers presently available will be

sufficient to meet the expected demand, initially mainly in the

primary schools and later also in the secondary schools, when the

Putonghua pilot scheme in secondary schools is completed in the

summer of 1987.
