Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Public Bodies (Confirmation of Appointed Members) (Temporary Provisions) Ordinance 1985.

2. Notwithstanding any other law, but subject to section 3, each of the following appointments is confirmed

(a) the appointment of the person named in Part 1 of the Schedule to be an appointed member of the Urban Council, as notified in the Gazette on 8 March 1985;

(b) the appointments of the persons named in Part 2 of the Schedule to be appointed members of the District Boards specified opposite their names respectively, as notified in the Gazette on 29 March 1985.

3. (1) The appointments confirmed by section 2 shall have effect for all purposes as if made by the Governor under powers conferred on him by any law in that behalf, except that-

(a) a person whose appointment as an appointed member is so confirmed shall not be required to make a declaration of acceptance of office in respect of such appointment; and

(b) unless he sooner resigns or otherwise ceases to hold office as such appointed

member, his appointment shall expire on the expiration of this Ordinance.

(2) Any person whose appointment as an appointed member expires by virtue of subsection (1)(b) shall, subject to the provisions of any law in that behalf, be eligible for re-appointment as such appointed member.

4. This Ordinance shall expire on the publication of the final register com- piled in respect of 1986 under the Electoral Provisions (Registration of Electors) Regulations.
