to provide technical and other services
to or for the benefit of its members;
(3) to promote,
in other territories,
knowledge of and respect for Hong Kong's
industries;
(4)
to
promote such activities as
are
designed to improve and develop Hong
Kong's industries and to encourage the
efficient use of their resources;
(5)
to advise the Government on any matter
which affects Hong Kong's industries;
and
(6)
to advance and encourage education,
including such liaison with universities,
technical colleges and schools, and
professional
institutions
or
organizations, as may lead to a higher
calibre of managerial
staff.

The significance of this bridging role will
take on an added dimension later this year when the
membership of the Federation has the opportunity to
elect one of the two members to represent the industrial
functional constituency in the Legislative Council.
