HONGKONG BILL

You may like to see the latest version of this Bill which is likely

to go to Legislation Committee early in the new year.

The only

part that may interest you is I think paragraph 3(2) of the

Schedule. This enables us to make any necessary adjustments of

United Kingdom law and of the law of dependent territories other

than Hongkong.

For the definition of "enactment" see paragraph 1.

For what it is worth, this should cover Acts of the Parliament

of Northern Ireland and Measures of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

In view of the wording of paragraph 3(2) I see no need for an

express extent provision.
