Regulations and Orders in Council.

Section 41 of the Act empowers the Secretary of State to

make regulations for the purposes of the Act. The provisions of

this section will apply to the new status holders. In particular

section 41(1)(i) will include a specific reference.

12. General provisions.

Exercise of functions of the Secretary of State by Governors

and others.

Section 43 of the Act empowers the Secretary of State to

make arrangements for any of his functions under the Act to be

exercised by the Governor of a dependent territory in cases

concerning BDTC. Since the Governor of Hong Kong will be dealing

with applications for registration in and renunciation of the new

status it will have to be specified in this section.

14.

Offences and proceedings.

Section 46 of the Act, which relates to the making of

false statements in connection with the Act, will apply to the

new status.
