Mr Wilfred Wong,
Chairman
Yau Ma Tei District Board
(Translation)
4tn May 1984
Dear Mr Wong,
Upon request of some of the electors in the district, we conducted a survey on the Hong Kong's Future in mid-April 1984, to collect public views by means of questionnaires. The limited resources compelled us to focus our attention only on organisations such as MACs/CCs, trade unions, labour unions etc in the "outh Area and Tsim Sha Tsui. questionnaires were distributed to these organisations by mode of random sampling. In addition, a two-day street interview
was carried out. The response on the whole was favourable.
Nonetheless, the changing climate entails it necessary for Yau Ma
Tei District Board to consider holding assemblies in due course, for electors to discuss the opinion survey on Hong Kong's future an
area basis. These assemblies, in the form of seminars, help to encourage electors to care for their living environment and to acquire knowledre on the organisation and function of district boards. They
may also be useful, particularly at a time when the 28 embarks on the election campaign, to prepare electors for the election.
Thank you for your attention.
It is hoped that
consideration can be made as regards the feasibility of the above-
mentioned suggestion.
Yours sincerely,
(LEE Lit-man ) ( CHAN Nai-wang ) Members of Yau Ma Tei District Board
Encl. (report on the opinion survey)
