designed by HKUSU "Ad-hoc Committee on Hong Kong's Future". The Committee
had colleted views from the student associations of 8 faculties and
8 halls in drafting the questionnaire, and produced the final version
after 3 drafts. It had also consulted professionals on some technionl
problems related to the design of the questionnaire. The questionnaire

2. Scope & Objectives:
Part I: concerns the question of sovereignty and administrativo
right over Hong Kong. The aim is to understand the principles on which
students base their consideration and the stance they take, i.e. how do
students comprehend the question of who should decide to whom the
sovereignty of a place belon, s? Do they in actual fact accept that
China should have and exercise sovereignty over Hong Kong and what are
their views as regards the role of Britain?
Part II: concerns the direction in which the community of
Hong Kong should develop during the transition period from now up to
1997.
There may be changes in many different areas during the transition
period. For instance, to strive for the democratisation of the
administrative system is to ensure the implementation of the "special
administrative region" proposal. This is in accord with the wishes of
the Hong Kong people. There are arguments for and against the various
proposed directions of social development.
