To enable us to produce the brief for the Secretary of State's bilateral by the deadline of 20 September, I should be grateful for contributions by noon on 19 September.
4.
In considering their briefs, departments might wish to know that SPD think the Prime Minister will wish to feel her way gently in the discussion with Mr Lange on his first call. He, too, will not wish to be heavily leaned upon - New Zealand receives this sort of treatment from big brother Australia, and sometimes the US.

6. In addition, Mr O'Flynn, Deputy Foreign Minister (as well as substantive Defence Minister, though not travelling in that capacity) will be seeing Lady Young on Monday 1 October. A request for rather more detailed briefing on some of the above topics will issue shortly.
