BRIEFING FOR LADY YOUNG IN AUSTRALIA

1.

Lady Young arrives in Canberra at 05002 on Sunday, 21 October and will be having her bilateral discussions with the Australians on Monday 22 October. I am grateful for the arrangements which many Departments have already made to keep Lady Young informed of developments. I should be grateful if Departments could ensure that important telegrams are repeated to- Lady Young's party in Wellington until 0410Z on 20 October or in Canberra thereafter. Many Departments have already updated briefing which they provided for Lady Young's talks in Canberra. Any amendments are telegraphed to Washington by v4107 on 20 October copied to Canberra.

In view of this deadline I should be grateful if the

important telegrams which Lady Young should see before her talks.
