We need to submit minute with revised annex.
iii) Report on state of play in talks. This should probably be made orally by Secretary of State.

Zhou Nan says Chinese revised draft likely to be presented at 19th round or before. We must study and comment. Do we put in our own ideas on wording of sovereignity/restoration of Hong Kong?

We are pressing our proposal for separate sub-group. If that fails, we might propose that the subject go back to plenary (with Civil Aviation aspects).

A note is being prepared on progress. We must watch proposals for Dr Wilson's relief (at present planned he should come out 'with Secretary of State on 31 August).
K SUPPORT FOR SECRETARY OF STATE ON VISIT
Sir P Cradock is going. Dr Wilson will be in Peking. We should consider asking Sir R Evans and Dr Wilson to go down to Hong Kong to brief the Secretary of State on the way out.
