I know it would be warmly appreciated her if you could fit a visit into your 1985 programme.
I had a word with Sydney Giffard on this when I was in Tokyo just over a week ago, and I think that he would welcome a visit there too. It would be very easy then to fit Peking into the triangle.
Since we have just had the Secretary of State and the Prime Minister here there is, of course, no urgency, but perhaps I may leave the thought with you.
I am sending a copy of this letter to Sydney Giffard in Tokyo and Peter Thomson who is in charge in Peking in Richard Evans' absence.
