No follow-up so far to Honolulu Conference (meeting of

resettlement countries organised by US, 1-3 August 1983; attended by Canada, France, Japan, Australia and UNHCR observers). US State Department officials recently told FCO officials further meeting

under consideration; uncertain whether this will include ASEAN

countries, and whether it will consider alternatives to resettlement

outside the region.
