MR ROBERT PARRY (LIVERPOOL, RIVERSIDE): TO ASK THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AND COMMONWEALTH AFFAIRS, WHAT WAS THE COST OF THE RECENT VISIT OF UMELCO MEMBERS TO LONDON; AND IF HER MAJESTY'S GOVERNMENT OR THE HONG KONG GOVERNMENT WILL BEAR THE COST.

The estimated cost of the recent visit of

UMELCO members to London is approximately

Hong Kong Dollars 500,000 (approximately

pounds 52,600). This will be met by the

Hong Kong Legislative Council from the

public funds appropriated each year for

the expenses of the UMELCO office.
