HONG KONG IN UN ORGANIZATIONS

1. We have received from Research Department a copy of Hong Kong telegram no 679 of 19 July to Peking which sets out Hong Kong's status in a number of international organizations, including two based in Geneva.

2.

We were unaware of this and related correspondence when recently preparing our own analysis of Hong Kong's position in the Geneva-based UN agencies (David Moss's letter of 27 November to Galsworthy refers). We would therefore be interested to see copies of earlier papers on this subject and especially the brief referred to in paragraph 4 (c) of the

telegram.
