In his minute of 30 June Mr Whomersley commented on the fair version of the UK draft Understanding and, in particular, on draft paragraph 2(5) (exemption from customs duties) and draft paragraph 2(6) (exemption from customs inspection).

This is to confirm that I agree with Mr Whomersley's remarks on these customs clauses. As regards the penultimate sentence

I of his comment on draft subparagraph (5), have looked at paragraph 3 of Schedule 2 to the Hong Kong Consular Relations Ordinance 1970 and see that it is cast in precisely the same terms as the equivalent provision in the UK Consular Relations Act 1968.
