Thank you for your letter of 4 February reporting on the most recent in the series of border liaison review meetings. It is good to see that, at the local level at least, we continue to enjoy full cooperation with the Chinese. I hope this will extend also to your proposed new measures to deal with illegal immigration by children by repatriation of selected families. We should be grateful to learn in due course how the Chinese respond.
