1. Mr Luce had a word with Mr Alison (the Prime Minister's PPS) this afternoon about Mr Adley's activities on Hong Kong. He explained the background and set out our concerns to him, adding that Mr Adley's Adjournment Debate was yet another area which we would now have to watch. Mr Alison said that he would do what he could. As far as the Adjournment Debate was concerned, it might not be possible to silence Mr Adley altogether, but pressure could be brought on him to make his remarks as anodyne as possible.
