10. The Canadians disappointingly declined to become involved with military training assistance on the ground in Belize. The Prime Minister will wish to bring Mr Trudeau up to date on our latest intentions with regard to the garrison (though not in detail in advance of her meeting with President Reagan) and encourage the Canadians to play amore active role along with Britain and the United States in searching for ways of guaranteeing Belize's continued independence and security.
