United States economy and is only just starting to climb
out of severe recession. The Canadians will be
interested in the Prime Minister's account of her
handling of the British economy. Among international
economic questions, the prospects for the US economy and
developing country issues (in which Mr Trudeau takes a
personal interest) are likely to predominate. Mr Trudeau
will also wish to hear the Prime Minister's views on the
organisation of the 1984 Summit. ·

7. The Canadians are very likely to raise some of their
current difficulties with the European Community, for
example, over their exports of newsprint and fish.

FALKLAND ISLANDS

The Canadian Government gave uks firm support during
the Falklands war and our posts throughout Canada
reported enormous popular support for Britain. They
neh abstained in last year's UN vote. The Prime Minister
will wish to give a first-hand account of our policy.
