CALL ON PUS BY MR PETER HENDERSON, SECRETARY OF AUSTRALIAN DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, 0930 ON TUESDAY 7 JUNE

The Australian Prime Minister will be making an unofficial visit to the United Kingdom 6-8 June and whilst he will not now be able to see Ministers at this time it has been agreed that we should do as much business as we can with officials.

1.

Mr Peter Henderson, Secretary, (ie. PUS) of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs will call on the PUS at 1200 on Tuesday 7 June for an extensive exchange of views. The meeting will be followed by a working lunch.

2.

3. We would like to keep briefing down to a sensible minimum consistent with an exchange of this sort, and will combine the topics on the attached list into a composite brief, or briefs. Briefing (by midday on 31 May please) can therefore be in draft form, in the usual "Points to Make" and "Essential Facts" format. (ERD may need a little longer to cover Williamsburg but I hope they can let us have their contribution by midday on 2 June.)
