DEFINITION OF FUTURE 'HONG KONG PEOPLE' IN WEN WEI PO
1. The attached teleletter of 3 June from Hong Kong provides an interesting insight into Chinese thinking on the status of Hong Kong people under the SAR concept. It is more detailed than anything I have seen before on this particular aspect. Mr Walker is trying to obtain the full text of the Wen Wei Po article.
2.
Mr Thomson has commented that ''X is contrary to our hopes and to other indications, and will reduce the influence of the residual foreign community. Y is just what is causing the current ebb of confidence.''
3.
Any other observations would be appreciated.
