Representations on the Future

of Hong Kong

An 8-member delegation came to the UELCO Office without prior appointment yesterday afternoon (30.6.83). They claimed to represent 40 "free", i.e. right-wing, organ- isations and they were seen by Hon. T.S. LO, Hon. Allen LEE and Hon. Stephen CHEONG.

At the meeting, Members of the delegation expressed their views on the future of Hong Kong. They said the proposal of "Hong Kong people governing Hong Kong" or "Hong Kong rule by Hong Kong law" would not work; and that any change to the existing law or system would affect the stability and prosperity of Hong Kong. They asked that these views be conveyed to the Prime Minister by the ExCo Unofficials during their visit to London.
