Meeting with Mr. Charles Yeung in the PA's office

Visit to China by N.T. Group
Following a discussion which Mr. Yeung had with S(GD)
on the 7th January and a briefing which the N.T. group going to China had from SDA on the same date Mr. Yeung called to
update us on this visit.

Arrangements for the visit had been made by the NCNA
at the request of CHAN Yat-sen. The group was paying its own way. Of the dozen or so persons who were going, four of them
were being accompanied by their wives. The group included a representative of the Wen Wei Po, and LING Wang-yan with a record of pro-communist activity in 1967.
3. Mr. Yeung said that the visit was being covered by TVB and
ATV, though not at the request of the Kuk. Other press representa tives were also going. In these circumstances, the Kuk was issuing a short release on departure. Obviously there would
be a good deal of publicity about the visit.
4. The visit was being led by LAU Wong-fat. CHAN Yat-sen was
the deputy leader followed by Charles Yeung and CHEUNG Yan-
leung. LAU Wong-fat was to be the spokesman.
5. Mr. Yeung gave us a copy of the itinerary which includes three days in Peking at the outset, a further three days sight-
seeing at Tsing Tac before à final return to Peking.

The group had been told that it would be seeing LIAO Chengzhi at the outset. They hoped to see more senior leaders including GU Mu, and possibly even DENG himself, though Mr. Yeung added that as the visit had been arranged by the NCNA,
