Dear Robin,
FUTURE OF HONG KONG

When Lord Belstead was in Hong Kong last month he was given by Lord Kadoorie a copy of a note of a recent lunch meeting Lord Kadoorie had had with Professor Paul T K Lin, President of Linbridge Inc. In case you have not see it a copy is attached.

It is not clear whether Lin was offering to play any sort of unofficial role himself (see paragraphs 13 to 15) and I am not at all sure that we would want him to, but I should be glad to know a bit more about him and whether you think there might be any value in his talking either to Chinese leaders again or to anyone here if he happens to be in London. Lord Kadoorie's note at the end suggests that Lin may have acted as something of a go-between before.
