a minute from Mr Culver of SED quoting a statement

by Mr Pym in the Commons on 22 June 1982 on Gibraltar;

a statement by the Prime Minister after her visit to the Far East last year; and

two background papers on Northern Ireland (you may well have these already).

Mr Snoxell of RID was unable to find any statement on Northern Ireland in relation to self-determination and doubts that any such statement has been made. Mr Snoxell suggested a 'doctored' passage from the relevant part of the Political Background Brief might serve as a statement of policy. It may be worth pointing out to Mr Stoff that Northern Ireland is not a colonial issue and bracketing the province with the other territories is very misleading.
