Thank you very much indeed for your letter (23/2/83) and fact sheets on

St. Helena, Falkland Islands and Gibralter. I have always been interested in overseas British territories and their classifications. Am I right in saying that the only territories which Westminster retains a considerable degree of control over are the brown colonies and the U.K. dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man ? I have noticed that over the years the number of brown colonies has been reduced as they change to sovereign states within the Iommonwealth. But what exactly does the bommonwealth mean.
