British Dependent Territories Citizenship was introduced

to provide a distinct citizenship for those citizens of

the United Kingom and Colonies who held that status through

a connection with a Dependent Territory. This may be by birth, registration or

naturalisation in a dependent territory or by descent

from a person born, registered or naturalised in a

dependent territory. In practical terms the introduction

of British Dependent Territories Citizenship did nothing to

alter the immigration status of persons who acquired that

citizenship.
