(Amendment) Ordinance 1982 to introduce new
definitions and adjust level of fees and
penalties for offences.
As BDTC will not be acquired automatically by children born
in Hong Kong not all children born in Hong Kong on or after
1 January 1983 will be Hong Kong belongers.
In future no-one will become a Hong Kong belonger unless and
until he/she becomes a BDTC.
Hong Kong estimate that there are 2,969,000 BDTCs in Hong Kong.
