Since May 1979 the Falkland Islands Government have been offered 3 farms. Two of these Green Patch and Roy Cove - they purchased from their own reserves. The third they did not buy because they considered the price too high. Both farms purchased were sub-divided into 6 units and re-sold. The Falkland Islands Government have now been offered first option on a three-farm estate in West Falkland which has been on the market for some time. The Falkland Islands Government and HMG are considering the purchase of this property.

Mr Camm is offering plots of land at Douglas Station. This is a private venture. It is for prospective buyers to evaluate the scheme.

FALKLAND ISLANDS COMPANY

78. The Falkland Islands Company is also offering plots of land situated along the Stanley to Darwin road. This is a private

venture and a matter for the Falkland Islands Company.

ARE ANY FALKLANDS FARMS ARGENTINE-OWNED?

79. There may be an indirect shareholding, by the Argentine descendants of the original Scottish purchaser, of the John Hamilton Estates in West Falkland. The properties are being farmed on behalf of a Jersey-based trust, at least two of whose directors are British.
