General Information
Social Enquiry Report on Condemned Prisoner
(徐成有)
ANNEX E
Prisoner was raised up in a traditional, large-sized Chinese family. His father was, in his golden days, a landlord and businessman having a wife and two concubines. Prisoner was born the eldest son by one of the father's concubines. At time of his birth, the family was already running to a decline as most of its properties and business were taken away with the change of Government in Mainland China, 1949.
Prisoner spent his childhood days with his family in their native place where he received 6 years of Primary school education. Shortly after leaving school, at the age of 15, Prisoner sneaked into Hong Kong territory in late 1967. He immediately got in touch with his half-brother who arrived here years earlier. Prisoner was well looked after by his half-brother who also assisted him into proper employment. Prisoner got a job in the weaving factory where his half-brother was working; and later on Prisoner started to stand on his own feet living in the factory dormitory.
Being young and restless; and without much guidance from elders, Prisoner soon mixed himself with undesirable elements and allegedly became affiliated to a triad society. Though later he started cohabitation with a factory worker named TANG Yee-fong and had children some time after, Prisoner somehow failed to settle down in a family life. He maintained association with triad gang members and was very much indulged in pleasure-seeking activities. Those days, he grew discontented at the factory job and was always dreaming of making a fortune. He gradually started making connections with underworld characters and involved himself in their activities. He became imprisoned for a Robbery Offence in 1977 and was discharged from custody by late 1978. Still Prisoner failed to shake away from his dream of fortune and hence, maintained contact with underworld activities the same as before. His first cohabit wife therefore separated Prisoner very much
X as a result of losing faith and hope in him.
For two to three years before present incident, Prisoner allegedly was operating a loans company and an apartment house; both in partnership with friends. He was financially stable and had started cohabiting with another girl, who became his second cohabit-wife. His first cohabit-wife bringing along their children, had however become out of trace for about 2 years after they moved out from the previous address in the Cha Kuo Ling squatter hut area. Prisoner seemed to have little concern over them but showed to have great affection on his second cohabit-wife who allegedly managed persuading him to shift to running some decent business for a change. It was told that Prisoner was just about to start proprieting a garage around the time he became involved in present incident which inevitably brought the idea to a cease.
