were convicted, among other lesser crimes, of the murder of LAU Chak-mo and were sentenced to death.

A copy of the trial judge's report on the case is at Annex A.

CHAN, LEUNG and HO appealed against conviction in respect of the murder count but their appeals were dismissed by the Court of Appeal on 13 March 1980. On 10 February 1982 the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council refused CHAN and LEUNG leave to appeal.

All three condemned prisoners then petitioned for clemency through the Director of Legal Aid, and their petitions dated 14 April 1982 are at Annexes B, C and D.
