Generally, the prisoner was impressed to be amiable, though his moods fluctuated from being high-spirited and verbal to become silent at times. Nevertheless, he considered that the prisoner was normal. Considering the prisoner's good character and past behaviour, Mr AU prayed for leniency to the prisoner.

F. INTERVIEW WITY THE PRISONER

The prisoner was interviewed at Stanley Prison on 18.8.1981. He appeared to be verbal and cooperative in revealing his social history, feelings though initially he did not disclose his separation with his family in his early years. But, he was depressed when mentioning about his present offence and the loss of his girlfriend whom he still loved very much.

He felt sorry for the deceased and his silly and impulsive act.

He further expressed that he was happy at school and contented at work. In the family, at his working place and among his friends, he had admiration and recognition for his achievement. On the whole he had not encountered any failure in the past years. But he was hurt and at a loss upon the estrangement of his girlfriend. He stressed that he had no intention to kill the deceased but did so out of impulsion. He had submitted an application for appeal and retrial of his case.
