Letters to the Editor South China Morning Post Tong Chong Street

Quarry Bay, HONGKONG

DATE 3rd Feb.,1982

Dear Sir,

With reference to your Feb.,3 on Miss Vertucci's appeal, your reporter quoted me as stating that the Maryknoll Fathers Justice and Peace Committee received a reply from the Immigration Department that they were told "that the Director of Immigration will not alter the decision on the case". In fact, I did not say that. I merely said that the Mary- knoll Fathers Committee had issued a statement. I also told the reporter that I had heard from the Commercial Radio that morning that the Director of Immigration will not alter the decision on the case. Your reporter unfortunately combined the two facts, and I would like you to clarify this for your readers.

Yours sincerely,

ito tung
