Ms. Vertucci is an American citizen. She was born in the USA on 20th February 1948. She is a lawyer by profession but is not thereby entitled to practice as a barrister or solicitor in Hong Kong. She first entered Hong Kong in January 1978 and was given permission to work as an Assistant Editor of the magazine "Asia Monitor" under the sponsorship of the Asia/ North American Communications Centre, later retitled Asia Monitor Resource Centre. She was originally admitted for six months and on the condition that she undertook the employment only described in her application as above. Her stay has been extended at six monthly intervals since that time. On each occasion her extension request has been accompanied by a certificate from her employer to show that she is still employed in the work for which permis- sion was originally given to her to come and work in Hong Kong. On the 17th December one of the other co-directors advised the Immigration Department that she had become a co-director of the Centre.
