Immigration Policy on Entry for Education Reference : XCC (69) 20 and XCC (69) 62
XCC(69)
The entry of alien students (including children of Chinese race) other than from -
(a) China,
(b)
Taiwan,
(c)
Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia,
(d)
UK and
(e)
Chinese residents of Macau
who were not settled in Macau by 14 January 1979
is governed by the following general conditions
(i)
(ii)
Applications will only be considered, as a general rule, for admittance to private schools registered under the Education Ordinance and Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance. In exceptional circumstances, applications for admission to a government or aided school will be considered provided that a parent of the student resides in Hong Kong and the application has the personal support of the Director of Education.
The Principal of the school/university/ institution concerned must certify in writing that there is a suitable vacancy in the school, and that the student named has been accepted to fill this vacancy.
(iii) There is no security objection.
(iv) It is not likely that the student
will become a charge on public funds.
(v)
The student on entry must posses valid travel documents and adequate return facilities to country of origin (which must be maintained throughout his stay).
