An application for widows (including in this context a divorced woman) of any age or widowers over 50 years of age to join their nearest or only surviving relatives in Hong Kong will normally be approved provided that their relatives are :-

(i) bona fide residents; and

(ii) able to support them and

provide accommodation.

Relatives other than wives, husbands, children or parents

Except as provided in (e) above, permission for other relatives to enter Hong Kong will not normally be approved in the absence of adequate proof of a long period of previous residence in Hong Kong, or other strong compassionate or humanitarian

reasons.

Miscellaneous (XCC (67)16)

Aliens of Chinese race who are

nationals of, or stateless residents

of, a foreign country (other than those seeking entry from China, Taiwan or Macau), who are over the age of 60, will be permitted entry without the need to satisfy any of the conditions in para. 2 (a) to (f). Such persons do, however have to satisfy the conditions at para. 1 above. A spouse of any age will be allowed to accompany such alien.
