REVISION OF IMMIGRATION RULES

1.

I attach a copy of a self-explanatory MVD minute enclosing a copy of a Home Office submission to Ministers on the forthcoming revision of the Immigration Rules.

2. I should be grateful if you would look at these papers in the light of Mr Partridge's remarks at (b) in his minute. If the request to the Home Office on passports did not originate with NTD, it would be helpful if you could indicate from whom else it might have come.

3. I should similarly be grateful if Messrs Hoare and Grewe would look at the points referred to in (c) and (d) respectively in Mr Partridge's minute, and let me know if they have nay comments.

4.

Mrs Hatcher may like to be aware of the forthcoming need for a guidance telegram (see (g) in Mr Partridge's minute), and may find the attached papers useful as background.
